Brisbane star forward Charlie Cameron is certain to come under scrutiny from Match Review Officer Michael Christian this weekend, after a ‘dump’ tackle on Jake Lever during Brisbane’s clash with Melbourne on Thursday night.
With six and a half minutes left in the first quarter, a vigorous Cameron tackled Lever in Brisbane’s forward pocket, before pulling the defender off the ground and into the turf.
Speaking during Fox Footy’s half-time coverage, reporter Jon Ralph gave insight into how the AFL might see the incident.

“If you’ve got one arm free, that will help your case – so Cameron’s hope will be that (Lever’s) free arm helps him,” Ralph said. “The AFL hates that ‘lift and dump’ action, so a few competing forces there – I think you’re right on the borderline of a week though.”

Speaking on live commentary for Channel 7, Geelong great Joel Selwood gave his analysis on the tackle.
“Dump tackle here from Charlie Cameron, he’s had a good start to the game, (but) you don’t want to be giving free kicks way in your forward 50 when you’re a small forward,” Selwood said.
“(Cameron) may be in a little bit of trouble, but will be looked at I’m sure.”
The pair played with each other for three seasons at Adelaide between 2015 and 2017, before departing for Brisbane and Melbourne respectively after suffering Grand Final heartbreak at the Crows.
Cameron’s match against the Demons is his 207th career game, complimented by a notable 366 goals.
