AFL legend Carl Ditterich has been charged over allegations of historical child sexual abuse.
The 78-year-old former St Kilda and Melbourne ruckman was charged by Victoria Police’s Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team last Friday, 9 News reports.
He faces three counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency from the alleged incident in 1985 – five years after he retired. The charges all related to one victim.

Victoria Police confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday.
“Bayside Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives have charged a man following an investigation into alleged historic child sex offences,” the statement said.
“The incidents against one victim occurred in Heatherton in 1985.”
Ditterich played 285 games for St Kilda and Melbourne from 1963 to 1980, winning two best and fairests and captaining both clubs. He was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
