It has been a brutal start to the Bathurst 1000 for wildcard entry Matt Chahda Motorsport whose car has twice headed off the track as well as being spun out following a clash with contender Chaz Mostert.
Matt Chahda started at the back of the 26-car field and battled in his opening stint before handing over to rookie co-driver Brad Vaughan who had a momentum to forget as he was tagged into a spin by Mostert on the 23rd lap.

The Boost Mobile Camaro spun across the track into the fence and its front spoiler was ripped off courtesy of secondary contact from the Walkinshaw Andretti United Mustang.
Mostert carried on seemingly untroubled while Vaughan managed to get his banged up car to the pits.
Before the incident, Chahda spoke of his early struggles.
“I think I started pretty good, I just burnt the tyres off again, exactly the same as the first stint at Sandown,” he said.
“They’re such a hard car to work out, it’s only my second go at doing that really. Trying to learn not to tear the tyres up too much is something we need to focus on.
“I canned the tyre that hard, it got to the point where once I was having loses under brakes, it was hard to catch.
