Lewis Hamilton’s United States Grand Prix has ended in disappointing scenes, with the British champion crashing out on the third lap of the race.
After making up several places on the opening lap, the 39-year-old lost control of his Mercedes at Turn 19, ending up beached in the gravel.
Yellow flags were waved as stewards cleaned up the mess.
Meanwhile, pole-sitter Lando Norris of McLaren slipped down to fourth after a dreadful start in Austin, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took an early lead.
