After winning the toss and electing to bowl, the Stars struck in the first over as Renegades recruit Josh Brown smoked an off-drive to Glenn Maxwell at mid-off to depart for six runs.
And only a few overs later, prodigy Fraser-McGurk was caught behind for 12 off 14 balls as his lean streak this campaign continues. The 22-year-old averages 11.17 from six innings in BBL|14, with scores of 21, 5, 2, 26, 1 and 12.

It was Jacob Bethell (49 off 36) and Jono Wells (45 off 31) who combined for an important 71-run partnership for the fourth wicket, before a Laurie Evans cameo (24* off 11) helped close out their side’s innings on 7/168.
Left-arm quick Joel Paris was the best with the ball for the Stars, finishing with figures of 2/23 from his four overs — which nearly also included one of the all-time run outs via a flukey direct hit from a backwards throw.
Pakistan recruit Usama Mir (1/28 off four) was also economical, while 40-year-old veteran Peter Siddle (2/36) took two late wickets. Glenn Maxwell and wicketkeeper Sam Harper each took two catches in the field.
The last place Stars are coming off a drought-breaking win over the Heat as they aim to keep their finals hopes alive, while the sixth place Renegades are looking for their third win to keep in touch with the top four.
