The annual allocation of NFL rights for top college talent will be conducted at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the home venue of the Green Bay Packers.
The Titans grabbed the top overall selection in the draft ahead of Cleveland at second and the New York Giants picking third after all three finished an NFL-worst 3-14 last season.
Ward, a 22-year-old from Texas, completed 305 of 454 passes for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns with only seven interceptions and ran 60 times for 204 yards and four touchdowns for the Hurricanes last season.
Miami finished 10-3, missing the US college football playoffs, but Ward is seen as the top prospect available by most analysts.
The Titans, who missed the playoffs the past three seasons, have met with Ward several times in the run-up to the draft, including sessions with coach Brian Callahan about how Ward might fit into Tennessee’s offensive system.
Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi said the team has rejected trade offers and has decided upon a player, but didn’t reveal whose name would be called first on Friday.
After the Browns and Giants, the New England Patriots pick fourth followed in order by Jacksonville, Las Vegas, the New York Jets, Carolina, New Orleans and Chicago.
University of Colorado Buffaloes cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter, winner of the 2024 Heisman Trophy as the nation’s top college player, offers a two-way threat that figures to make him among the early selections.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of Buffaloes coach and former NFL star Deion Sanders, is also in the draft but draws a wide range of possible selection spots from draft analysts.
Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty had 2,601 rushing yards in 2024, the second-best one-season total in US college history after former NFL star Barry Sanders.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST STORYLINES TO FOLLOW?
Where will the quarterbacks go?
We already know that Ward will go first overall to the Titans but from there on it is a mystery.
Shedeur Sanders was the consensus second-best quarterback prospect up until a few weeks ago, when Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart and Louisville’s Tyler Shough started to shoot up draft boards.
Shough is viewed as the most NFL-ready of the three while Dart, even if a project considering the offence he played in at the college level, has the highest upside given his rushing potential.
Then there is the ultimate wildcard, Jalen Milroe, who some scouts have described as the best running quarterback they have ever evaluated. As a passer, however, he is a work in progress.
The Browns, Giants, Steelers and Saints all have major question marks and quarterback and while there are four other quarterback prospects outside of Ward up for grabs, there is no guarantee they will be available should another team with an already established veteran take a flyer on Milroe or Dart.
It makes for an intriguing first round. You can read more about each of the top quarterback prospects and where they could land here.
A historic running back class?
Jeanty headlines a running back class that is considered the deepest in years, filled with a number of talented prospects who could push for starting jobs from Day 1.
UNC’s Omarion Hampton boasts a three-down skill set while Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson is a big play waiting to happen and has the pass protection chops to get on the field right away.
Henderson’s teammate Quinshon Judkins is also expected to hear his name called in the first two days of the draft as one of the most explosive athletes in the class.
Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson could excel in an outside zone scheme, while Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo was the second-most productive back in this year’s class.
Then there are other intriguing profiles in speedster Bhayshul Tuten, UCF’s RJ Harvey, Tennessee’s Dylan Sampson, Kansas State’s DJ Giddens and Miami’s Damien Martinez among others.
A draft for defensive-minded coaches
While this draft may not boast the top quarterback or receiver talent of last year, it will present teams with plenty of opportunities to shore up their defence.
NFL Mock Draft Database’s consensus mock draft has 18 of the 32 picks in the first round coming on the defensive side of the ball, headlined by Hunter and Penn State edge Abdul Carter.
