There are doubts the Lachlan Galvin contract saga is over despite his successful return to the team amid ongoing legal action between the five-eighth and the club over bullying claims.

Galvin returned to the Tigers side a week after being dropped following his decision to leave the club after his current contract, to inspire his side to a nail-biting 20-18 Golden Point win over the Sharks in Round 8.
Veteran journalist Phil Rothfield called it the highlight of the round seeing Galvin back doing what he loves after a tough fortnight for the 19-year-old and the club.
“It was the highlight of my weekend to see the kid with a smile on his face,” Rothfield said on NRL 360.
“He’d been under enormous stress, strain, anxiety for nearly two weeks and I want to give Benji a wrap here.
“It’s not easy to bring your kid back into the football side when his teammates didn’t want him there and they looked happy.
“He’s a wonderful player. He set up a magnificent inside pass for that try and I thought it was great for rugby league. They knocked off my Sharks but to see Galvin happy made my weekend.”

However, The Daily Telegraph’s Brent Read believes the ongoing legal action could bring the ugly contract saga back to the surface.
“Well he said it, all he ever wants to do is play footy, talking to people about him,” Read said.
“It’s what he loves, what he’s always wanted to do and I was glad to see him back, but I don’t think it puts the issue to bed.
“I mean there is obviously legal action going on in the background. There’s talk about mediation and once that happens, that’ll kick it off again.”
However, Braith Anasta believes the way the Tigers rallied around each other, including Galvin to beat the Sharks in golden point shows the issues can be resolved, which sparked debate.
“We spoke about how it was going to be a monumental job for Benji and their team, their leadership group and Galvin,” Anasta.

“To turn up the way that they did and come up with a win like that, which was courageous and it was all the effort areas and they fought to the death and covering tackles and they worked for each other as a team which, credit to Benji and the club.
“But how doesn’t it put it to bed?”
“Well, because the case is still going on and it’s not going to go away, is it?” Read said.
“Does it lessen than the strength of that case now?” Anasta persisted.
“Do those allegations not look as strong now?”
“Well, I wouldn’t have thought so because the allegations are based on what’s already happened not what’s happened now,” Read said.
“They would probably argue the reason he’s maybe back in the team is that they started this previous legal process.”
However, Gorden Tallis believes the legal proceedings can go away if Galvin is happy to move on.
“So they still want to argue the case? Do they want it to keep on going? The kid’s back playing good football and it can go away,” Tallis said.
“I’m just letting you know that it can go away.”

Rothfield agreed that Galvin’s desire to focus on playing footy could work in the Tigers’ favour.
“He did not look like a guy involved in a legal dispute with his employer,” Rothfield said.
“He looked so happy. I think it will go away. I think they’ll drop the legal case.
“Galvin’s lawyer is on the record as saying he wants mediation. He doesn’t want a release from his contract. He wants this sorted out. It looks sorted to me.”
However, Read believes it is difficult to turn back once legal proceedings have commenced and allegations have been made.
“They’ve called for urgent mediation,” Read said.
“I don’t think that’s gone away. My understanding is it hasn’t gone away.
“So I understand he looked happy, but I think he has always looked happy.
“I just think once you’ve gone down that path, it’s hard to pull back when you’ve made allegations.”

However, Rothfield believes the fact Galvin is back playing means the player and the club can move on in a professional manner.
“There are two levels here,” Rothfield said.
“There’s the Francis Molo level, where he sued the Dragons, alleged bullying, mental health, just stopped turning up. Unfixable.
“With Galvin, he turned up, he’s happy, play on.”
Read believes the fact that Galvin has made it clear his future is elsewhere means the contract saga is not over.
“Well, the kid’s made it clear what he wants to happen. He wants to leave,” Read said.
“Not now. I don’t necessarily think he wants to go now.
“I’m not saying that (case will be dropped) won’t happen, but I would be surprised if it went away based on one game.”
