SAINTS ZERO IN ON RYAN
Fresh off securing Nasiah Wangneen-Milera’s signature, St Kilda is zeroing in on West Coast premiership forward Liam Ryan to continue the Saints’ aggressive recruiting drive.
St Kilda has been among the Victorian clubs linked to Ryan, who has another year to run on his contract at the Eagles.
And ABC’s Alexia Pesce reported on Tuesday St Kilda has tabled a four-year deal to Ryan, 28.
Ryan’s management group, Young Guns Sport Management, denied the four-year offer via a post on their Instagram account, posting a picture of Ryan with the caption: “Four years at St Kilda … Just not true.”
Perth journalist Ryan Daniels later reported on X it was “increasingly likely” Ryan would leave West Coast for St Kilda at season’s end end on a “multi-year deal,” saying Eagles “teammates are staff are expecting his exit.”
Both reports noted Ryan still hadn’t yet made an official call on his future.
Eagles footy boss Gavin Bell said Ryan was a “required player” at the club after a one-win season in Andrew McQualter’s first campaign as coach.
“With another year to go on his contract with us, he’s a required player,” Bell said on SEN radio.
“We will have all our exit meetings in the next couple of weeks and we’ll know about those guys in those positions and what their intentions are.
“We haven’t had anything official yet to us so we’ll just continue to focus in on this week and make sure Liam is in the best place he can to play against the Swans.”
The Saints are also expected to land Carlton free agent Tom De Koning and Giants defender Leek Aleer.

OLIVER TIPPED TO DEPART DEES IF BUCKLEY IS COACH
If Nathan Buckley is to become Melbourne’s next coach, Clayton Oliver might be more likely to depart the club than Christian Petracca.
Both Oliver and Petracca face uncertain futures at the Dees 12 months on from being linked to trades in what could be a busy off-season at Melbourne as it prepares to install a new senior coach.
The Demons are currently in the process of picking Simon Goodwin’s successor after last week assembling their selection panel, with Buckley considered the frontrunner for the top job at Melbourne.
Asked who’s the biggest name to watch this trade period, Nine journalist Sam McClure said on 3AW: “Christian Petracca.
“But I would say if Buckley coaches (Melbourne), Oliver goes, Petracca stays. That would be my guess.”
