The Brisbane Broncos could become the first team to win both the men’s and women’s premierships in the same season after storming into the NRLW Grand Final.
A few hours earlier, on the same ground where the men’s side came back from 14-0 down to beat Penrith, the NRLW side downed Newcastle 30-6 in its preliminary final.
It sees the Broncos into the Grand Final for the first time since 2020, the last of their three consecutive premierships to begin the NRLW competition, when it had just four teams.

The Knights, premiers in 2022 and 2023, were no match for the Tamika Upton-led hosts who had a double from Kerri Johnson on route to victory.
The Broncos face the Sydney Roosters in next Sunday’s Grand Final and, even though the Roosters are the reigning premiers and have gone the entire season so far undefeated, will arguably be favourites due to Tarryn Aiken’s injury-forced absence.
The Roosters can tie the Broncos with three NRLW premierships with a win.
They won the sides’ only meeting this year, back in Round 3, 30-26 on the back of an Olivia Kernick double and a perfect 5/5 conversions from Jocelyn Kelleher.
