A video of a spectator throwing a beer at Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica has emerged on social media as Europe close in on Ryder Cup victory in the Sunday singles in New York.
The beer was thrown at the McIlroys during yesterday’s appalling crowd behaviour at Bethpage Black, and the couple can be seen turning back towards the crowd in disgust.
The targeting of McIlroy has not stopped during his singles match against world No.1 Scottie Scheffler.

Patrons have been squeezing rubber ducks during McIlroy’s backswing, leading to several being kicked out.
The ‘cherry fairway fizz’ drink being sold on site comes with a rubber duck in it, which is were the spectators were getting them from.
The Europeans started the day needing just two more points to retain the Cup, as Viktor Hovland withdrew from his singles match against Harris English with a bulging disc in his neck.
It meant both sides received half a point, taking the score to 12-5 in favour of the visitors at the start of the day.
On the golf course, the highlight of the day so far belongs to European veteran Justin Rose.
The Englishman hit an incredible recovery shot from next to a grandstand on the 14th hole of his match against Cameron Young.
A lengthy ruling was needed with US captain Keegan Bradley even running over to try hurry up proceedings, but Rose was undeterred and somehow stuck it close to the pin and went on to win the hole.
Rose was three down after 12 holes and rallied to take it to the last, but a birdie at the 18th from New Yorker Young won the first match of the day for the Americans.

In a boost to the relationship between the two sides, Scottie Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott posted on Instagram a video alongside Francesco Molinari, where Scott apologises to the European vice-captain for his behaviour yesterday.
The pair became embroiled in a heated exchange after Rose asked Bryson DeChambeau’s caddie Greg Bodine to move away from his line on the 15th green during Rose and Tommy Fleetwood’s four-ball victory against Scheffler and DeChambeau.
Molinari stepped in to try defuse the tensions as arguments blew up on the walk to the 16th tee, and ended up in a heated back-and-forth with Scott.
With his arm around Molinari, Scott said in the video: “This guy right here has always been just a very sweet-spirited man. We had a heated moment yesterday, but what many of you don’t realise is that we got over it by the time we walked off the 16th tee.
“Neither one of us want to make this competition about us. We want to let the players go out there and do their thing.
“Ultimately, I just want to spread love and joy. It’s a great competition, it’s great fun and this is a great man right here, so I just want to say I’m sorry.”
The pair shook hands and then Molinari said: “I appreciate you. I have huge admiration for you and I love you.”
