The Jillaroos’ Pacific Championships campaign has started in style, with the Aussie women running out dominant 60-0 winners over an injury-riddled Samoa side at Suncorp Stadium.
It’s the Jillaroos’ 19th win from their past 20 Test matches.
Given Samoa lost to the New Zealand Ferns last week, the Jillaroos will face the Ferns in the final in a fortnight’s time but not before they face off in the final round next week.
The star-studded Jillaroos started hot, with Jess Sergis scoring the team’s first two tries in the sixth and eighth minute. Australia didn’t look back from there.
Sergis, Julia Robinson and Tamika Upton scored doubles. NRLW superstars Olivia Kernick, Yasmin Clydesdale, Jakiya Whitfield, Kezie Apps and Quincy Dodd all crossed the try line as well.
It was a wretched day on the injury front for the visitors.
With ten minutes remaining, Samoa were down to just 13 healthy players, meaning they had no one left on the interchange bench.
The Jillaroos will take on the Ferns in New Zealand next Sunday.
