Eagle-eyed viewers have spotted an umpiring blunder during the third T20 in Lahore, with Australian all-rounder Cooper Connolly incorrectly given out stumped by Pakistan gloveman Khawaja Nafay.
During the 14th over of Sunday’s run chase at Gaddafi Stadium, Connolly charged at spinner Mohammad Nawaz only for the delivery to turn sharply and slide down the leg slide.
The West Australian was given out stumped for a second-ball duck after Nafay whipped off the bails, but replays showed that he didn’t have the ball in his left glove, which he used to dislodge the bails. Umpires and commentators were completely oblivious to Nafay’s blunder, with footage of the incident circulating social media channels on Monday.
Nawaz finished with career-best figures of 5-18 from four overs as Pakistan sealed a dominant 111-run victory, Australia’s heaviest defeat in men’s T20Is.

Pakistan, having cruised towards a 3-0 series whitewash, later that day announced the national team would boycott it’s T20 World Cup match against rivals India, a move that was cleared by the Pakistani government.
The decision comes after Bangladesh was removed from the ICC tournament following its refusal to travel to India due to security concerns, replaced by Scotland.
The T20 World Cup commences on Saturday.
