Early Mail: Michael Maguire has confirmed Ezra Mam won’t be switched out of the five-eighth role late, with Ben Hunt to remain on the bench.
”Ez will start, he will start at five-eighth… we went with the team we did last week and we weren’t able to play the way we can,” Maguire said to reporters.
“Hunty will come off the bench and perform the way we can. (Mam) has a bit of speed I suppose… everyone knows what Ezra can do.
“One thing I do know about Ez is he keeps working on himself, when you go through a period like he has you continually have to make sure you look after everything you are doing around what you can control.
“I think that’s something he has really taken on board. He’s a year older, really matured.”

Early Mail: Will Penisini has come out of the side at the 24-hour update, replaced by Jordan Samarani, who enjoyed a terrific pre-season. Samrani played in 13 games for the Eels last year, scoring four tries. It’s not yet known whether Penisini has been dropped or has succumbed to injury. Meanwhile, the Eels are hopeful Josh Addo-Carr will be fit to play after battling with a thumb injury. “He’s good, he trained today (Tuesday) so we’ll just see how he pulls up tomorrow and then we’ll make a decision … he’ll be close,” coach Jason Ryles said. As per Ryles, the winger will be “close” to taking the field.
