Martin Brundle never fails to disappoint with his renowned pre-race grid walks.
On Sunday though at the Singapore Grand Prix Brundle left Australian F1 driver Oscar Piastri in an awkward moment as he chased down Esteban Ocon.
Ocon, who turned 27 on Sunday, was clearly a target of Brundle’s for a pre-race interview as the Sky F1 analyst raced after him to wish the Alpine driver a happy birthday.
The only problem? Brundle was in the middle of starting a conversation with Piastri.

“Oscar, bad luck in qualifying, got some work to do in the race?” asked Brundle.
Piastri replied: “Yeah, we’ll try our best, see if we can…”
At that stage Brundle had spotted Ocon and turned around, shouting: “Esteban! Esteban! Happy birthday!”
Piastri though was already gone by the time Brundle turned back around to continue their conversation.
“He’s gone, sorry, I was hoping to keep Oscar and I’ve lost him,” Brundle said.
Some F1 fans weren’t impressed with the way Brundle treated the Australian.
Piastri’s qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix came to an early end after he was caught out by the red flag after Lance Stroll’s heavy crash.
“Obviously, it was a disappointing qualifying, however, I’m glad to see that Stroll is okay,” Piastri said.
“It is a shame it happened right in front of me rather than right behind me.
“Unfortunately, there’s not much more we could have done due to the Red Flag.
“Our first run was okay, a little bit scrappy, and then we had an issue with traffic starting the final run, but I think it would have been good enough to get us into Q2.”
