Australia has one again been denied a crucial wicket due to a post-catch grounding, with Indian centurion Shreyas Iyer handed a massive reprieve during the second ODI in Indore.
India was cruising at 1-212 the 31st over at Holkar Stadium when Iyer, who was unbeaten on 101 at the time, chipped a return chance towards Australian quick Sean Abbott.
The New South Welshman dived across the pitch, holding onto a superb catch and celebrating the much-needed breakthrough with his teammates.

However, the decision was sent upstairs to third umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan, with replays showing the ball had scraped the turf before Abbott completed the catch.
Iyer has called back, much to Australia’s frustration, and the 28-year-old rubbed salt into the wounds by slapping the following over mid-wicket for a boundary.
Law 33.3 states that a catch is only completed once the fielder has total control over the ball and their own movement.

The incident was reminiscent of Mitchell Starc’s non-catch during the second Ashes Test at Lord’s earlier this year, where England opener Ben Duckett was given an extra life in the fourth innings.
The Australians breathed a sigh of relief when Iyer holed out to Matthew Short at deep mid-wicket later in the same over, caught for 105 (90).
India registered 5-399 from their 50 overs in Indore, with opener Shubman Gill (104 from 97 balls) also reaching triple figures.
