The Western Bulldogs have named star ruck Tim English for their must-win clash against the GWS Giants, despite coach Luke Beveridge saying 24 hours ago the club “didn’t anticipate him to be available” after an ankle injury.
The cavalry has arrived for the Blues with star forward Charlie Curnow and dashing defender Adam Saad included in Michael Voss’ squad, but fellow tall Harry McKay has not made the cut.

Crows young gun Josh Rachele has been omitted after his antics in the Showdown last week, joining Izak Rankine, Mark Keane and Lachlan Gollant as the outs for Adelaide. Veteran Taylor Walker is back, as is Chayce Jones and young gun Billy Dowling.
The omission of Rachele was reported earlier this week in a surprising move against the young gun, who has shown flashes of brilliance in his third AFL season – with a very similar statline to that of superstar Izak Rankine, when Rankine was playing a similar role in his third year.
The Advertiser reported Rachele was dropped for “putting himself ahead of the team”, having been told to focus on the game rather than stirring up fans during the Showdown, but then bringing back his ‘no teeth’ sledge during the game.
“We love the energy Josh brings to our group… Collectively, we must always prioritise the team-first focus which is so central to our values and standards. And we have and will continue to work with Josh in this space,” the Crows’ Adam Kelly said.
Will Day is out with a collarbone injury for the Hawks and is replaced by Finn Maginness. Jack Scrimshaw has been named despite concerns around a finger injury.
Port Adelaide have been bolstered by the return of Mitch Georgiades as they look to keep their top two hopes alive, while Dan Houston is out due to suspension.
Michael Walters, James Aish and Neil Erasmus are among the potential inclusions for Fremantle in their must-win clash against Port Adelaide.
Chad Warner returns from a calf injury for the Swans, who have only managed Tom McCartin despite speculation mass resting’s were on the cards.
Geelong have made a trio of changes – Zach Tuohy, Tanner Bruhn and Jed Bews return, while Gary Rohan (managed) is among the names to miss.
There’s plenty of movement at selection for Jarrod Schofield’s Eagles, with a host of stars set to miss. Jeremy McGovern, Liam Ryan, Alex Witherden and Andrew Gaff won’t play in the clash against Geelong.

Bailey Laurie replaces Tom Sparrow for the Dees, while the Pies are casting an eye towards 2025, bringing in a quartet of youngsters including Ed Allan and Joe Richards.
Richmond’s Marlion Pickett will get a farewell match against the Suns, while Liam Baker is also among the inclusions.
Axed swingman Jack Lukosius returns for Damien Hardwick’s Gold Coast alongside Alex Sexton, with Jed Walter and David Swallow making way.
Charlie Comben misses through concussion for North Melbourne, while tagger Will Phillips has been presented with another opportunity.
Brandon Starcevich will miss Brisbane’s last home and away side, but Irishman Conor McKenna has been recalled.
Fan favourite Dyson Heppell will get a chance to farewell the Bombers faithful, even if it’s at the Gabba and not in Melbourne. Small forward Matt Guelfi also returns.
Rhylee West will miss the Bulldogs’ must-win clash against the Giants with a broken jaw, with Riley Garcia, Caleb Poulter and Arty Jones all named on the extended bench.
Lachie Ash will miss that game for the Giants through suspension, Nick Haynes or Callum Brown could be called on to replace him.
Mattaes Phillipou has overcome illness to take his place in St Kilda’s starting lineup, while Anthony Caminiti will miss through injury.
