WHAT IS THE AFL TRADE PERIOD?
The trade period is a roughly two-week window after the Grand Final where players are able to move clubs, either via free agency or trade.
Teams can also trade draft picks ahead of the national draft and other, smaller draft meetings in November.
WHEN IS THE AFL TRADE PERIOD AND FREE AGENCY?
The 2024 AFL Trade Period begins on Monday October 7 (expected to open at 9am AEDT), and finishes on Wednesday October 16 (expected to close at 7:30pm AEDT).
The AFL free agency period begins on Friday October 4 (expected to open at 9am AEST), and finishes on Friday October 11 (expected to close at 5pm AEDT).
The AFL Draft will be held on Wednesday November 20 and Thursday November 21.

WHICH FREE AGENTS ARE LEFT ON THE MARKET?
These players are expected to find a new AFL team via free agency over the next fortnight.

WHICH TEAMS ARE LIKELY TO MAKE THE MOST MOVES?
Teams with multiple first-round draft picks, like Fremantle (9, 10 and 16) and Gold Coast (6, 12 and 20) are expected to be busy, while the likes of GWS and Port Adelaide are tipped to have plenty of players coming and going.
The draft order is not set in stone though, because clubs who lose free agents can receive compensation, which is dependent on the size and length of the deal signed at the new team, plus the age of the player.
