STATE OF PLAY: What your club has done this trade period … and what’s left to do
‘They should be challenging for the 8!’ | 02:23
12.30PM – DEES LIST BOSS’ ‘100 PER CENT’ CALL
Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb has declared Harrison Petty will “100 per cent” remain at the club next season despite interest from Adelaide.
The Crows have been desperate to try and prise Petty out of the Dees, despite the swingman having a year to run on his current contract.
Lamb told AFL Trade Radio that Lamb was staying put.
“We’ve had a number of chats with Harrison. We understand, Harrison is a really good player, that’s why Adelaide would like to get him and it’s why we’re keeping him,” he said.
“I think as we move through this period there’s more and more of this sort of stuff going on, it’s just part of the industry now.
“Both Simon (Goodwin), Richo (Alan Richardson) and myself have spoken to Harrison and he’s aware of our position.
“We’ll work to hopefully not having him not only for the next two years but for an extended period after that.”
Lamb said the club saw Petty’s future as a forward after promising glimpses in the back half of the season before his injury.
11.30AM – ‘RENEWED PUSH’ FROM TIGERS RUCK FOR MOVE
Richmond ruck Ivan Soldo is reportedly keen to join Port Adelaide.
Despite being contracted to the Tigers for another season, Soldo has been linked to a move to the Power across recent weeks.
SEN journalist Tom Morris reported on X there was a “renewed push” from Soldo and his management to seek a trade to the Power — although the Tigers were “holding firm” on the “required player”.
Port Adelaide football boss Chris Davies before the trade period opened said his club would be “more than open” to trading in Soldo should the contracted ruck request a move away from Richmond.
“Ivan is in that situation where, from his standpoint, he wants to be a first ruck,” Davies told AFL Trade Radio. “Whether he’s going to be able to do that at his existing club is the question that he needs to answer himself.
“We definitely have a need in that area and if he was to be in a situation where he wanted to leave Richmond, we would be more than open to him coming.
“Now obviously he’s contracted, so I don’t want to go into his situation massively. But we need a genuine No. 1 ruckman, so we’re in the market for that type of player.”
Davies said the Power were open to acquiring both Soldo and Bulldogs ruck Jordon Sweet, who’s requested a move to Port but hasn’t had his trade wish granted yet.

11AM – SUNS EXPLAIN WHY THEY’RE HAPPY TO MOVE TOP PICK ON
Gold Coast list boss Craig Cameron has confirmed his club is happy to part ways with top-10 draftee Elijah Hollands, despite being contracted to the club for next season.
While Hollands hasn’t requested a trade to Carlton – the club his younger brother Ollie plays for – the on-baller is contemplating a move to Ikon Park – although his management last week stressed Hollands would be happy to see out his Suns contract.
Hollands has played just 14 games since being drafted by Gold Coast with Pick 7 in the 2020 draft.
Asked if the Suns were open to moving Hollands on, Cameron told SEN on Monday morning: “Yeah we are – and there’s a number of reasons around it.”
6AM – BIG POWER PLANS FACE OFF SWITCH WITHOUT RARE PLAYER SWAP DEAL
Port Adelaide looms as the busiest club over the next 60 hours, with six or seven players potentially coming and going before Wednesday night’s deadline, and it won’t be easy.
That’s especially if Essendon tries to play hardball on a deal involving key defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and winger Xavier Duursma.
The Herald Sun reports the Bombers are more than happy to keep Zerk-Thatcher, having only gathered interest in former Power first-round pick Duursma because of their talks with Port Adelaide over the former.
It means Essendon could say it’s a straight swap between the pair of players or nothing – which would hurt the Power’s ability to complete their other deals.
With Geelong knocking back their offer of pick 25 for Esava Ratugolea, the Power may need the additional pick coming along with Zerk-Thatcher to then on-trade it and satisfy the Cats.
They’re also still hopeful of luring Richmond’s Ivan Soldo though he is contracted and the Tigers are very keen to keep him, while Bulldogs ruck Jordon Sweet appears likely to head to Alberton for a pick in the 40s.
If they sign one or two of their ruck targets the Power could then move on Scott Lycett and/or Sam Hayes, while Orazio Fantasia and Tom Clurey are also up for grabs.
