Star Luke Jackson has rubbished speculation that he is seeking a move away from Fremantle behind closed doors, with the 23-year-old adamant he will be with his childhood club long-term.
Reports of a potential Jackson move were first reported during the middle of his side’s pre-season match just over a fortnight ago — ironically, and fittingly, a game played against his former club Melbourne.

Speaking to media ahead of his 100th AFL game this weekend, the 199cm ruck-forward pledged his allegiance to the purple haze.

“I definitely will (stay long-term). I love Freo, I love playing at Freo and I’ve always wanted to play here since I was a little kid,” Jackson told reporters in Perth.
“I grew up supporting the club and I always remember watching the games. I’ll definitely be here and I’ve loved my time here.”
Jackson, who won a premiership with his maiden AFL club in 2021, still remains close with several former teammates but insists it is no reason to speculate on his future at the Dockers.
“That’s all rubbish to be honest. We played them a few weeks ago in Mandurah, I won a premiership with them, and I’ve got good relationships with them,” he said.
“I obviously give them the time of day and some of my best mates are in that team.”
Jackson is currently contracted with Fremantle until the end of 2029, after moving from Melbourne at the end of 2022.
AFL Media reported on Monday Jackson would be open to extending his deal into the 2030s.

When rumours of Jackson’s alleged plans to move emerged during Fremantle’s pre-season match, coach Justin Longmuir shut them down on the spot when asked post-game.
“Nothing I’ve seen of Luke throughout the pre-season has shown me that he wants to leave the club,” Longmuir said.
“Someone from the club has spoken to him already (about reports at the time) – he has reiterated that he doesn’t want to go anywhere and he’s never been happier.”
Fremantle’s 78-point loss to Geelong in their season opener last Saturday was their heaviest against the Cats since 2018, with all eyes now firmly on their response against Sydney this Sunday evening.
