While we don’t have a 2024 Super Netball season locked in as yet due to a breakdown between players and Netball Australia, we do know there’s plenty of players on the move.

All clubs will have to start their 10-player roster from scratch with 80 Super Netball contracts up for grabs.

Here’s the confirmed moves we know so far:

OCTOBER 27 – FEVER FAREWELL TRIO

Half of the West Coast Fever’s 2023 squad has now departed, following confirmation the club has farewelled trio Rudi Ellis, Kim Jenner and Emma Cosh.

The moves come off the back of the exits of premiership duo Courtney Bruce and Sasha Glasgow.

On Friday, the club confirmed a new deal wasn’t offered to Cosh – who has been with the Fever since 2020 – while Ellis and Jenner have both opted to explore new opportunities.

“We understand Rudi and Kim’s decision to explore other opportunities throughout this really challenging time and they have nothing but our blessing and best wishes,” Fever’s general manager Sue Gaudion said.

“On behalf of the Green Army, I want to thank Rudi and Kim for their dedication to Fever and they will always be part of the Fever family.”

For Cosh, the decision not to offer her a new deal is a tough blow after she was given limited court time in her preferred goal attack position – instead shifting to spend time at wing attack.

Cosh has played 44 games for the club – the most of Friday’s departing trio, including just five this season.

“Coshy will always hold a special place at Fever as maiden premiership player and the important role she played in that historic moment for our club,” Gaudion said.

Ellis managed 14 games on limited minutes as she sat behind skipper Bruce in Fever’s defensive stocks.

Jenner departs after just one season in green, playing just 11 games after crossing from the Queensland Firebirds at the end of 2022.

Of the five confirmed exits, four of those players were part of the club’s inaugural Super Netball title in 2022.

OCTOBER 20 – THIRD ADELAIDE PREMIERSHIP STAR EXITS

Tippah Dwan won’t be returning to the reigning premiers in 2024, after knocking back a new deal – joining Eleanor Cardwell and Maisie Nankivell in their exits.

Following the premiership win, Dwan has been back in Queensland – where she played for the Firebirds before making the move down to the Tbirds for the start of the 2022 season – to join partner and Brisbane Lion Josh Dunkley.

Dwan was spotted at a Firebirds match session against the visiting Silver Ferns during the week, ahead of New Zealand’s second Constellation Cup Test.

The Firebirds have already advised goal attack Mia Stower she would not be offered a new deal for 2024 – paving the way for Dwan’s potential return to her former club.

In a statement the Thunderbirds confirmed they were disappointed Dwan had opted against signing a new deal for next season in Adelaide.

“We had hoped to retain Tippah after an incredible season together in 2023, but we respect her decision to explore other options for next year,” club high performance manager Pitre Bourdon said.

“We thank her for everything she has done for our club and wish her the very best for 2024 and beyond.”

OCTOBER 6 – NANKIVELL DEPARTS TBIRDS

Midcourter Maisie Nankivell has become the second premiership player to confirm she won’t be returning to the Adelaide Thunderbirds for season 2024.

Nankivell joins English international Eleanor Cardwell in exiting the club after claiming the 2023 Super Netball crown.

Nankivell is a South Australian junior who arrived at the club as an injury replacement back in 2019.

She went on to play 56 games for the club after earning her first full time deal in 2020, before being named vice captain for last season.

Nankivell said it had been a dream come true to represent the Thunderbirds.

“As a little girl I grew up admiring everything about the Tbirds and it’s crazy to think that, that young girl who stuck posters up on her bedroom wall and someday dreamt about playing at the highest level, now gets to live out her dream,” she posted on social media.

In a statement, the Thunderbirds confirmed Nankivell’s exit for next season.

“Maisie has been with us since 2019 and has had a real impact on our team and club, especially through her strong training ethic and high fitness standards,” Bourdon said.

“She played a leadership role for us in 2021 and 2022 and we thank her for everything she has contributed to the Thunderbirds both on and off the court.

“We wish Maisie all the best for the future.”

Nankivell said the club would always be “home” ahead of her next adventure.

“Adelaide has always been home for me, and I know I’m really going to miss being a part of this club,” Nankivell said.

“The memories and friendships I have made are something I can cherish for a lifetime.

“However, I’m excited for a new adventure and can’t wait to get started.”
