On Saturday, Brisbane Heat and Queensland all-rounder Charli Knott was added to Australia’s T20 women’s squad for the rest of its tour of New Zealand as a replacement for the injured Ashleigh Gardner.
Scans have confirmed that Gardner broke her finger in attempting to take a catch off her own bowling in Australia’s eight-wicket win over the White Ferns in Auckland on Friday in the first game of a three-match series.
The uncapped Knott, an Australia “A” representative, was due to link with the squad on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s second match of the series in Tauranga.
She has been rewarded for her good white-ball form with bat and ball in the 2024-25 Women’s National Cricket League season.
Knott scored 542 runs for Queensland at an average of 54.2, and took 12 wickets with her off-spinners at an average of 28.66.
