Star opener Shubman Gill is set to miss India’s opening World Cup match against Australia on Sunday (7.30pm AEDT).
Gill, who is the highest run-scorer in ODIs this year, is suffering from dengue fever which is set to rule him out of the blockbuster match in Chennai.
“He is under the weather,” the official update from the BCCI said. “The medical team is closely monitoring him. We are hoping he gets better soon.”

Speculation spread online that Gill is suffering from dengue fever, which was later confirmed.
It is expected that Ishan Kishan will open the batting for India in Gill’s place.
Young gun Gill has made 1,230 runs in ODIs this year at the impressive average of 72.35, and strike rate of 105.03.
He is in strong, recent form too, making two centuries and a fifty within his past four ODIs — two of which came against Australia.
