Matt Renshaw has strengthened his claims for a recall into the Australian Test side with a century for the PM’s XI against Pakistan.
Renshaw was the definition of patient throughout, playing each ball on his merits but also showcasing an array of shots on his way to the 251-ball ton.
After 109 overs, the PM’s XI is 3-303. Renshaw is 101 n.o (off 252 balls) while Nathan McSweeney is 35 n.o (83).
Renshaw has mostly looked good, but has had luck on his side at times, including when he was given not out on 68 despite appearing to glove a ball to the keeper when attempting a pull shot.

Earlier, Renshaw has recorded the “very rare” feat of scoring seven runs from one ball after Pakistan committed a cardinal sin of cricket.
Renshaw had just run three to bring up his 50, but he quickly went to 54 when an errant Pakistan throw towards the keepers’ end couldn’t be corralled in by Sarfaraz Ahmed and flew to the fine leg boundary.
“I’ve never seen a seven before. A seven is very rare,” Adam Peacock said in commentary.
“It was a moment of real sloppiness from Pakistan.”
Another who is pushing for a Test recall is Cameron Green. He was been dismissed four runs short of a half-century.
Green when chasing a wide delivery from Ashraf and managed an edge to wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed to be dismissed for 46.
“He went chasing and he probably regrets it,” Adam Peacock said in commentary.
“You can sense his disappointment.”
