Australia has the opportunity to seal an outright victory in the multi-format series against India by winning this week’s day-night Test at the WACA.
The hosts, having secured a 3-0 whitewash in the ODI leg of the tour, currently lead 8-4 in the seven-match series, where two points are awarded for each white-ball triumph.
However, the lone Test in Perth, which commences on Friday, is worth four points, giving India an opportunity to tie the series and sharing the silverware. Points will be split if the four-day contest ends as a draw or tie.

Seamer Kim Garth has been ruled out of the Test match with a quad injury, while all-rounder Sophie Molineux is also unavailable due to a back concern. Meanwhile, superstar Ellyse Perry is in doubt for the pink-ball clash courtesy of a quad injury of her own.
Australia has therefore needed reinforcements, with Tasmania batter Rachel Trenaman and New South Wales seamer Maitlan Brown added to the Test squad. Brown has earned her first national call up in five years, while Trenaman has never previously been selected for an Australian squad.
The match will be Alyssa Healy’s final match in Australian colours, with the captain confirming her retirement from all forms of the game.
Elsewhere, teenage quick Lucy Hamilton, who made her international debut in Hobart on Sunday, looks set to become Australia’s 186th women’s Test cricketer this week.
The women’s Test between Australia and India commences at the WACA on Friday at 4.20pm AEDT.
