Australia’s biggest motor race will get underway on Sunday, with reigning Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki to start the Bathurst 1000 from pole position.
Kostecki defied illness and a bad tyre vibration that left his “teeth chattering” to pip rival Cam Waters for the $15,000 first place prize.
Remarkably, Kostecki and partner Todd Hazelwood are now attempting to become just the fifth pairing this century to win the Bathurst 1000 from pole.

David Reynolds and Will Davison will take to Sunday’s event in rebuilt cars after their costly qualifying crashes on Friday, while series leader Will Brown will be hoping to bank points with co-driver Scott Pye to keep his advantage over Red Bull teammate Broc Feeney (partnered with team boss Jamie Whincup) and 2021 Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert (paired with Lee Holdsworth).
The 161-lap event starts from 11.30am AEDT on Sunday.
