Scorchers star AJ Tye was seething after he was called for a no-ball for an above waist height full toss as Ben Dwarshuis survived a controversial umpire ruling in their BBL clash.

Dwarshuis smashed three sixes and a four in a brilliant cameo of 23 off just 7 balls as the Sixers posted a stunning score of 3-220.
But Dwarshuis was caught on 12 on the boundary, before the umpires ruled the full toss was a no-ball for being above waist height in a controversial and costly call.
“It did look high. Catch taken,” Mark Howard said on Fox Cricket.
“Immediate thought it was close to the hip.
“Ohhh big call! AJ Tye is spewing. He had already taken the hat off thinking thankfully the over was over.”
Brad Haddin’s reaction was that it was a fair delivery.
“My first thought it was underneath his hip,” Haddin said.
“It’s a big call to overrule. It’s tight – he’s dropped his back leg.
“He is that angry here Andrew Tye.”
David Warner believes Tye was hard done by and the call proved very costly for the visitors.
“It’s still got to come down a little bit from there … who knows what the umpire is going to do,” Warner said.
“That’s his batting stance – that’s what I don’t get. No batter stands upright – if you are in your batting stance, it’s still got to travel a bit more there, it’s supposed to be at his hip.
“In the IPL they actually came to every player and measured your hip to the ground. They measured it and measured it from the crease.

“Each player is obviously different so they wanted to make sure they really got it on point.
“The law is when you are standing upright and at the batting crease it’s on your hips.
“They say it’s upright … It makes no sense.
“Look at the measurement where he is there – I reckon and I believe it’s probably going under his waist there.”
Dwarshuis was then dropped off the very next ball by Jhye Richardson.
“It’s all going wrong for AJ Tye – can’t believe it,” Howard said.
In another contentious moment, centurion Steve Smith was caught on the boundary after Nick Hobson flung the ball back inside after stepping on the boundary rope.
The umpires reviewed the catch and Smith was allowed to return to the crease and finished unbeaten on 121.
