Sydney Thunder star David Warner has fallen for 13 off 1o balls after he and Alex Hales made a brisk start in Canberra.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Warner and Hales took 15 runs off Henry Thornton in the third over, with both explosive batters finding the boundary and getting themselves going. Two balls after finding the boundary off English import Jamie Overton, Warner slashed hard and high to deep square leg, finding the waiting hands of D’Arcy Short on the boundary.
The Thunder are 1/37 with Hales (23*) and Cameron Bancroft (1*) in the middle at the conclusion of the powerplay.
The equation is simple for the Adelaide Strikers ahead of Sunday evening’s Big Bash League match against the Sydney Thunder at Canberra’s Manuka Oval.
If they win, they cement their spot in the finals series. If they lose, they’ll be relying on the Hobart Hurricanes defeating the Melbourne Stars on Monday.
