On Thursday there was a report that Ben Simmons was “questioning” whether to continue his NBA career and now, the Australian has been dumped by his agent.
That is according to NBA insider Marc Stein, who wrote that Bernie Lee had notified the National Basketball Players Association that he had formally removed himself from the union’s ledger as Simmons’ agent.

It comes after a report from The New York Post claimed Simmons has been “questioning whether he even wants to continue playing in the NBA next season”.
That is despite that same report adding that Simmons has garnered interest from both the Knicks and another team.
Otherwise, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported on Friday that the interest league wide in Simmons has been “lukewarm” and even the Knicks would only be able to offer him a veteran’s minimum salary worth just over $3 million.
“Frankly, if you’re looking at him as a point guard, there’s not that many teams out there that are in need of a point guard who has guaranteed playing time,” Windhorst said.
“Ask Russell Westbrook. Not that Russell Westbrook and Ben Simmons are similar players, but they are two veteran free agents that are sitting on that market because there’s not a vast need for point guards.”
Windhorst went on to add that Simmons may even be forced to take a contract without any guaranteed money, where he would essentially be forced to earn his way onto the roster in training camp.
“If that’s the case, maybe he may want to wait a few months to see where a good fit would be, when he would join a team that would have a need for a point guard,” Windhorst said.
“At the end of the day, Ben Simmons’ stock has been falling dramatically for years, and the fact that we’re into September and he doesn’t have a full time guaranteed job, I think speaks to that.”
While the Knicks have been consistently linked to Simmons this summer, Stein also previously reported that the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings also had some level of interest in the Australian.
Simmons split time with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers last season, averaging 5.0 points, 5.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 22 minutes per game.
