Michael Neser, take a bow!
As good a fielding effort as you’ll see, Neser took an insane outfield catch to put an emphatic full stop on the Brisbane Heat’s dominant 54-run win over the Sydney Sixers on Wednesday night, to claim their first Big Bash title in 11 years — and prompt an enormous reaction from the cricket world.
The magical moment came in the final over the match after Sean Abbot skied a ball to the deep outskirts of the SCG, where Neser was lurking.

Neser plucked the ball just inside the boundary rope and flicked it to Paul Walter while Neser simultaneously tumbled outside the field of play for a remarkable relay catch.
“It’s Neser of all people … he’s so good Michael Neser! They’ll look at it, but it looks like an absolutely brilliant catch!,” Fox Cricket commentator Mark Howard exclaimed.

Renowned for his extraordinary efforts in the outfield, Neser sure didn’t disappoint here.
“I was pretty certain I hadn’t touched the rope,” Neser told Fox Cricket post-match.
“I knew I was close when I caught the ball and then I looked down and I was like ‘bugger, I was closer than I thought’. Luckily Tall Paul (Walter) is about seven foot so I saw him out the corner of my eye so I gave him a little footy flick and sure enough it got to him.”
Though Walter was technically credited with the catch — and bowler Xavier Bartlett the wicket — fair to say Neser earned all the praise for his incredible play.
