Big winner in race for No.1 jersey with four debuts confirmed: Ashes Team Lists

Reece Walsh has won the race for the No.1 jersey with Mitch Moses left out of the Kangaroos’ side for the first Ashes Test and Tom Dearden on the interchange.

Australia coach Kevin Walters has made some big selection calls heading into Sunday (early morning AEDT)’s opener.

Broncos premiership winner Walsh takes the No.1 jersey, with Dylan Edwards handing over the reins to the Clive Churchill Medallist.

In the halves, Nathan Cleary and Cameron Munster partner, with Dearden named on the interchange and Moses left out of the side altogether.

Gehamat Shibasaki has been named to make his Test debut in the centres alongside Kotoni Staggs.

Meanwhile Mark Nawaqanitawase will become the latest cross-code star to represent his country in rugby union and rugby league, being named to forge a wing pairing with Josh Addo-Carr.

Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, Harry Grant and Pat Carrigan will all start alongside Hudson Young, Angus Crichton and Isaah Yeo.

Joining Dearden on the bench are Keaon Koloamatangi, Lindsay Collins and Reuben Cotter.

“It’s going to be a huge thrill for all four of them to wear the green and gold for the first time in a Test match at such an iconic stadium,” Walters said.

“I’m excited for them as well as all of our players. Every member of our squad, whether they take the field or not, is about to experience something incredibly special this Saturday at Wembley.

“As I’ve said from day one of our preparations here in England, we’re on this Ashes journey together because it’s going to take a collective effort from everyone involved.”
