The race for Jarome Luai’s signature is well and truly heating up and the Panthers have issued the Tigers with an ultimatum.
WWOS are reporting Penrith powerbrokers have informed the Tigers, who are favourites to sign the gun five-eighth, a deal for the 2024 season could take place in a player swap.
The Panthers reportedly want the merger club to trade former Test prop David Klemmer and rising halfback Lachlan Galvin for a deal to take place immediately.

It was previously reported Klemmer was shopped to NRL rivals in a bid to clear cap space for the Tigers to table Luai a mammoth offer.
Their offer reportedly sits around the $1.1 million-per-season mark while Luai’s management has reportedly set a price tag of $1.2 million-per-season.
As it stands, Luai is contracted until the end of the 2024 season and The Daily Telegraph is also reporting he had a meeting with Phil Gould on Wednesday.
Luai now reportedly knows which offer is more lucrative and the Tigers are reportedly in the box seat.
Gould’s most recent meeting wasn’t photographed after recent sit downs with Raymond Faitala-Mariner and Addin Fonua-Blake were captured.

Bulldogs powerbrokers aren’t reportedly willing to blow out their salary cap to sign Luai in a three-horse race.
The Panthers have tabled an extension worth $850,000-per-season and have informed their star five-eighth that’s their best offer.
Luai will return to Penrith’s pre-season training next week and Panthers powerbrokers could then be given confirmation about the Tigers interest.
Under the new contracting model set out in the collective bargaining agreement, the Panthers will have ten days to convince him to stay at the club should he accept any offer.
