Breakout Super Netball star in frame for Diamonds debut as squad named for England series

The Diamonds have announced their squad to play England next month, with three potential debutants in the frame for selection.

Rudi Ellis, Georgie Horjus and Ash Ervin are the new names, with the Vixens defender the most likely to make her Diamonds debut having already been invited to the camp as a training partner a few weeks ago.

Now, Ellis is well and truly on the verge of representing the green and gold after gaining selection in the squad, building on a strong Super Netball season.

Courtney Bruce and Joanna Weston were the only two players unavailable for selection for the England series due to injury, although coach Stacey Marinkovich said the pair could return for the Constellation Cup in October.

“We are really excited to bring the squad together in Canberra as we begin to combine and connect new combinations in preparation for the England Series,” Marinkovich said.

“We will continue to explore our depth and versatility across the court and work to transfer this to the international arena.”

Captain Liz Watson will headline a midcourt which features vice captain Paige Hadley, Kate Moloney, Amy Parmenter and Jamie-Lee Price while Ellis and Ervin have been selected alongside defenders Sarah Klau, Sunday Aryang and Matilda Garrett.

Goalers Horjus, Cara Koenen, Kiera Austin, Sophie Garbin and Sophie Dwyer round out the England Series squad.

“This is the beginning of a new four-year performance cycle leading into the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney so we will be methodical in our build and development of our group,” added Marinkovich.

“It is always a tough battle against the England Roses and we can’t wait to play in front of our incredible Origin Australian Diamonds fans in Adelaide, Sydney and Bendigo.”

The first match of the England series is scheduled for Thursday 19 September at 7pm AEST in Adelaide, with the second at Sydney on Sunday 22 September at 4pm AEST.

The final match of the series will take place in Bendigo on Wednesday 25 September at 7pm AEST.

The England Series and the Constellation Cup will be broadcast live and exclusive in Australia on Fox Sports, available on Kayo Freebies and Foxtel.
