Broncos hooker Cory Paix is reportedly in contract negotiations with the club six months after it appeared his days at the Broncos were numbered.
Paix was essentially Brisbane’s fourth-string dummy-half in 2024 under former coach Kevin Walters, but since Michael Maguire’s reign started shortly after Walters’ firing in late September, Paix has been considered the club’s number one option.

A fresh slate under Maguire was all Paix needed this off-season, with the 25-year-old rocketing up the depth chart to win the starting dummy-half gig.
Paix has been one of Brisbane’s most consistent performers in 2025 and his play is set to be rewarded, with Code Sports reporting the hooker has been in contract talks with the Broncos over a possible extension.
Paix is so far without a contract from next season.
“Cory’s preference is to stay at the Broncos,” Paix’s manager Paul Hogan said.
“He’s had interest from a number of clubs, including teams in Super League, but he would ideally love to stay on at the Broncos.
“There’s been several inquiries about Cory for the past 12 months and even this pre-season, he could have signed elsewhere, no doubt about that.”
