Collingwood’s Brody Mihocek has been condemned for his “dangerous” act on a Richmond veteran during Sunday afternoon’s Round 20 clash.
Amid the Magpies’ six-goal victory over the Tigers, the key forward was seen pushing three-time premiership Tiger Nick Vlastuin into a marking contest — an act that is strongly prohibited this season and has already seen several players suspended.
Fortunately for all involved, Vlastuin was not injured in the incident. However, Mihocek was fined $2,500 ($1,500 with an early plea) after being charged with rough conduct.

Speaking on Fox Footy’s AFL 360, Melbourne great Garry Lyon was blunt in his assessment of the act that saw the Magpie narrowly avoid a ban.
“I’m the number one fan (of Mihocek), so no problem there… (but) that’s dangerous — that (act) is dangerous,” Lyon began.
“Brody Mihocek can’t do that, you just can’t do it. It’s too dangerous to push player into incoming traffic. I think he’s lucky — like Darcy Moore was lucky. Darcy Moore got off scot-free, he gets off with a $2,500 fine.
“The fact that Nick Vlastuin gets back up … Rhyan Mansell got suspended for three games if we go back. We’ve got to call out the behaviour. Football is calling on footballers to change their behaviour.
The incident Lyon refers to took place earlier in the season, when Richmond’s Rhyan Mansell pushed young Irishman Liam O’Connell into a contest going back with the flight.
The Tiger was found guilty of rough conduct, careless, high contact and severe impact, whereas Mihocek was found guilty of body contact, careless and low impact.
The incident left the Saint badly concussed, and resulted in Mansell unsuccessfully appealing his three-match ban which was also upheld at the Tribunal.
“This was a big story. (Liam O’Connell) gets knocked out here. They’re saying that he pushes him, and knowingly pushes him into oncoming traffic,” Lyon added.
Earlier on Monday evening, Melbourne’s Steven May was unsuccessful in his attempt to overturn his three-game ban for rough conduct after a gruesome collision with Carlton’s Francis Evans.
