The North Queensland Cowboys are set to be without Queensland origin star Reuben Cotter for their next two or three matches due to suspension for a high tackle on the New Zealand Warriors’ Marata Niukore.
The incident took place in the seventh minute of the Warriors 30-26 win against the Cowboys on Saturday night at Suncorp Stadium, and the NRL judiciary have deemed it a Grade 2 charge of a careless high tackle.
The Cowboys captain can accept a two-match ban with an early guilty plea, and a risks three-matches on the sidelines if found guilty by the panel.

Cotter was the second Cowboys tackler to come into stop a barnstorming run from the powerful Niukore, but there was no penalty awarded by the referee for the incident.
It did not go unnoticed on the broadcast, however.
“A bit of contact there, the shoulder, they’ll look at that,” was the call from Fox League commentator Michael Ennis as the broadcast showed the replay of the tackle.
