“When it comes to possible destinations, the Heat and Knicks are known to be preferable to DeRozan if he winds up getting moved,” according to the Athletic’s Sam Amick.
Amick says DeRozan is “considered very likely” to be dealt with the Bulls sitting at 6-14.
DeRozan, 34, is averaging a team-best 21.3 points, 4.6 assists and shooting 45 per cent this season, and the small forward could help contending teams.
Making him all the more attractive is his expiring contract, worth $28.6 million.
Teams can acquire him for a playoff run, see if he hits and perhaps have a leg up on re-signing him if the partnership worked.
