De Minaur can earn a spot in the last 16 of his home slam for the fourth consecutive year if he beats No.31 seed Francisco Cerundolo on Rod Laver Arena this afternoon (not before 2pm).
The Aussie has never beaten a seeded player at the Australian Open; but the No.8 seed has also never lost to a player ranked lower than him at this event.
De Minaur would’ve gone to bed hopeful of having a compatriot to join in the fourth round, but early this morning Aleks Vukic fell to No.15 seed Jack Draper in five sets.
With a win, de Minaur would earn a fourth-round clash with either No.19 seed Karen Khachanov or American Alex Michelsen, who upset Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round.

Also on Saturday, British star Emma Raducanu attempts to continue one of her best tournaments since her fairytale run to the US Open title when she faces Polish No.2 seed Iga Swiatek to begin the day session.
Meanwhile Destanee Aiava has delivered a hilarious response to the anti-doping test she received on Friday, following her controversial exit at the hands of American Danielle Collins.
“Someone needs to find a less invasive way to test us for drugs,” Aiava tweeted on Friday evening.
“and idk (I don’t know) why i’m being tested im literally 300 in the world the only thing ill be tested positive for is mental illness.”
The self-deprecating Aiava is actually ranked in the 170s after making it to the second round of her home slam.

Collins, who drew the ire of Aussie fans for her celebrations after beating Aiava, plays on Saturday night against compatriot Madison Keys.
It’s an American-heavy day with the unseeded Marcus Giron facing world No.1 Jannik Sinner, plus seeds Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro, along with young gun Alex Michelsen in action.
Elsewhere at Melbourne Park today the Junior Boys and Girls Singles competitions get underway, with Aussie Emerson Jones the No.1 seed in the latter, while Cruz Hewitt (the son of Lleyton) and Jagger Leach (the son of Lindsay Davenport) are amongst the competitors in the former.
