Dual premiership Blue Peter Dean is reportedly recovering in hospital from significant injuries after an alleged assault earlier this week.
The Herald Sun reported on Wednesday afternoon that Dean, 60, was rushed to hospital on Monday night after being found unconscious on an Albury footpath.

The report claimed Dean spoke to two teenagers who were allegedly attempting to break into cars then, after leaving the scene, was attacked after being followed. A passer-by then found Dean lying unconscious on a Smollett St sidewalk in Albury’s city centre.
Dean was sent to hospital where he received treatment for head and facial injuries. He reportedly remains in hospital in a stable condition.
NSW Police told the Herald Sun that officers had spoken with — and seized the phones of — three youths at the scene of the attack.
“Following inquiries by detectives from Murray River Police District, police arrested a 17-year-old male,” a police spokesperson told the News Corp publication.
“He was taken to Albury Police Station. The young person will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.”
Dean played 248 games for Carlton, including the 1987 and 1995 premiership victories.
His son Harry Dean — an emerging key defender — was drafted by the Blues with Pick 3 last year as a father-son selection.
Moments after Harry was drafted, Peter presented his son with his first Carlton jumper.
“Pretty lucky to get it from your dad!” Harry told Fox Footy.
Peter then lauded his son’s traits, both on and off the field.
“He’s a better version of me, I suppose,” Dean told Fox Footy. “Taller, stronger — although I’ve still got him in the wrestles at home — he’s quicker, he’s a left-footer so he’s got more skill and he’s a better person as well.”
Dean coached the Lavington Panthers Under 18 side to a premiership in 2025.
Panthers president Peter Barwick said players had been left “devastated” after the club informed them about the incident on Tuesday night.
“It’s just devastating that it could happen,” Barwick told the Herald Sun.
“He’s such a down to earth bloke. If you didn’t know him, you wouldn’t know he had been an AFL player.
“All he’s worried about is making sure the kids he coached all turned out to be good kids.”
