Thomas Flegler has returned to the training paddock in a promising sign for the star prop after a serious shoulder injury derailed his first season with the Dolphins.

Flegler started in the Dolphins first four games of the season before copping what was first thought to be a burner.
However it was later revealed the 25-year-old had suffered nerve damage and not only was he ruled out for the year but his long-term future was up in the air.
But in a big relief, after undergoing nerve-transfer surgery, Flegler’s career is back on track with a Dolphins spokesperson telling Wide World of Sportsthe club is “cautiously optimistic” and hope the representative prop can return to play mid-2025.
“It’s really a guessing game at this point because of the unusual nature of the injury and the surgery,” the spokesperson said.

“But the good news is that the surgery went well and Tom is training again.
“There are certain things he can’t do at this stage and it’s just a case of waiting and seeing.
“He is in good spirits and working towards his return.”
It comes after the Dolphins’ new assistant coach Rory Kostjasyn told The Age that “everything is going well at this stage” and added: “I can imagine he’s champing at the bit.”
Meanwhile, fellow Dolphin Tom Gilbert is also back training after an ACL rupture during a trial game ruled him out of the entire 2024 season.
