The Philadelphia Eagles are one step closer to clinching their second-straight division title after surviving a scare against the New York Giants in a 33-25 win.
The Eagles were seemingly coasting with a 20-3 lead at halftime, but after returner Boston Scott ran into a teammate and fumbled the ball on the second half kick-off, the Giants slashed the margin to 10 points a couple of plays later through a touchdown to star running back Saquon Barkley.

Not long after, Eagles QB Jalen Hurts threw an intercept that was returned by Giants cornerback Adoree Jackson for a touchdown to bring the score to 20-18.
The Eagles would hold their nerve and run out winners. Barring that one blemish, Hurts was very good, even breaking the NFL single-season record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with his 15th score, eclipsing Cam Newton’s mark of 14 (set in 2011).
The win broke a three-game slide for the Eagles, and after the Cowboys’ loss to Miami on Monday (AEDT), Philadelphia are in solo first spot in the NFC East.
“Not the prettiest win, but we’ll take it. We ain’t won in a long time,” Hurts told Fox Sports post game.
With 11 wins (and four losses), Philadelphia now has the same amount as NFC-leading San Francisco, who are in the middle of their blockbuster against the AFC favourites, Baltimore Ravens.
A 49ers loss to the Ravens would again open the NFC right up, with San Francisco likely having to win both of their last two matches to finish with the first seed in the conference and subsequent first round bye as the Eagles have the lowly Arizona Cardinals and Giants to finish the season.
In the earlier game on Tuesday, the Raiders upset the struggling Chiefs, forcing an out-of-character sideline outburst by tight end Travis Kelce.
