Debate and vote on foreign interference and attacks on EU democracies
From 9.00, MEPs will debate with Commission Vice-President Věra Jourová how to counter foreign interference, information manipulation and attacks on democracy, particularly from Russia and China. The vote will take place at 11.00. At 8.30, the Special Committee on foreign interference and the strengthening of integrity, transparency and accountability in the EP (ING2) will adopt its recommendations on the reform of Parliament’s rules. A press conference with lead MEPs for both reports is scheduled at 12.30.

More ammunition for Ukraine
In a vote at 11.00, MEPs are set to back a draft law to urgently deliver ammunition and missiles to Ukraine and to help member states refill their stocks. Once Parliament has voted on its position, negotiations with Council can start with the aim of adopting the act in the July 2023 plenary.

New due diligence rules for companies
Following yesterday’s debate, MEPs will vote at 11.00 on their position for talks with member states on due diligence rules for companies. Companies will be required to identify and, where necessary, prevent, end or mitigate the negative impact of their activities on human rights and the environment such as on child labour, slavery, labour exploitation, pollution, environmental degradation and biodiversity loss. A press conference with the rapporteur will take place at 14.00.

Rule of law and fundamental rights in Hungary
MEPs will vote at 11.00 on a resolution assessing developments in Hungary regarding alleged breaches of the rule of law and fundamental rights, and frozen EU funds. Ahead of Hungary taking over the rotating Council presidency in the second half of 2024, MEPs are set to question whether its government is fit to fulfil these duties.

In brief:
MeToo/sexual harassment. MEPs will vote on their recommendations for combating sexual harassment more effectively, and improving reporting procedures and support for victims.
Ending fast fashion. Parliament is set to call, in a vote at 11.00, for the Commission and EU countries to make EU textiles and clothing industry greener, to end “fast fashion”, and help consumers make more ethically responsible and sustainable choices.
Antimicrobial resistance. From 10.00, MEPs will quiz Commissioner Kyriakides about the EU’s strategy to fight antimicrobial resistance. In a vote at 11.00, they are set to adopt their recommendations on the issue.
Votes
Between 11.00 and 13.00, MEPs will also vote on:
- geographical indications for wine, spirit drinks and agricultural products;
- strengthening social dialogue, and
- the nomination of the Hungarian candidate Ildikó Gáll-Pelcz,for the European Court of Auditors.
