While Marvel may dominate the box office now, there was a time in the 1980s when DC was the only comic book company making superhero movies like ‘Superman‘ or ‘Batman.’ But that all changed in 1990 when an independent comic book company called Mirage Studios released ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,’ which was based on their popular comic and was a box office smash.
Since then there have been 2 different live-action franchises, and several theatrical and home entertainment released animated movies. The newest addition to the franchise, the Seth Rogen produced animated film ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,’ is scheduled for release in theaters on August 2nd.
In honor of the Turtles return to the big screen, Moviefone is counting down every Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action and animated movie, both theatrical and home entertainment releases, including the latest.

The four turtles (Brian Tochi, Corey Feldman, Tim Kelleher and Robbie Rist ) travel back in time to the days of the legendary and deadly samurai in ancient Japan, where they train to perfect the art of becoming one. The turtles also assist a small village in an uprising.

Batman (Troy Baker), Batgirl (Rachel Bloom) and Robin (Ben Giroux) forge an alliance with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Eric Bauza, Darren Criss, Kyle Mooney and Baron Vaughn) to fight against the Turtles’ sworn enemy, The Shredder (Andrew Kishino), who has apparently teamed up with Ra’s Al Ghul (Cas Anvar) and The League of Assassins.
