Australian T20 gun Tim David is set to join the Melbourne Stars next Big Bash season, with the franchise’s interest also extending very hard to star Perth all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.

Foxsports.com.au understands that David and the Stars have reached a verbal agreement that would see him play alongside the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis in BBL|15.
Should the verbal agreement hold up once the league’s Player Movement Window opens up in just over a week, it will be the 28-year-old’s third Big Bash club since his debut for the Perth Scorchers on New Year’s Day in 2018.
David played a dozen games for the Scorchers across two seasons, before moving south-east to his current side the Hobart Hurricanes for the start of the 2020/21 season.
The middle-order big-hitter has played 63 games for the purple haze since, but has now been listed as a free agent by his club of half a decade.
Ironically, David is tonight pitted against what is expected to be his next Big Bash club tonight at the MCG, in his Hurricanes’ final home-and-away match before the finals.
The Singaporean-born player has played four 50-over games for Australia, and 54 T20I’s for his country of birth and the Aussies.
Foxsports.com.au also understands the Stars are also strongly pursuing David’s Australian captain Marsh, who has been a white-ball powerhouse in recent years at international level.
While discussions are more preliminary than what they have been with David, the Melbourne-based franchise believe they are well-equipped to have the cult hero fly east and join them next summer.
Marsh played just the one match for his current franchise the Perth Scorchers, after being dropped from the nation’s Test side this summer against India.
The 33-year-old batting all-rounder has been with the Scorchers since the very first edition of the Big Bash League. He has made 12 fifties and one hundred from his 71 matches in the orange.
The BBL Player Movement Window officially opens at 9am AEDT on January 29, and is open until 5pm AEDT the following week on February 6.
