The match play will consist of four 20-minute periods including time on, with extended interchange benches. The Blues will play an extended squad of 30 players, while the Saints are bringing a 26-man squad.
Free agent recruit Nick Haynes will make his first appearance in Blues colours, while draftees Jagga Smith and Lucas Camporeale will also run out on Saturday as Carlton supporters get their first real glimpse of their club’s influx of talent.
Among the Saints’ squad will be top-10 pick Tobie Travaglia, who will trot out in the No.5 guernsey, alongside fellow rookies Hugh Boxshall and SSP pick-up Harry Boyd.
Veteran recruit Jack Macrae, who says Moorabbin is “where I feel like I could get back to my strengths as a player in the midfield”, will also don St Kilda colours for the first time in a competitive hit-out.
“I still feel like I’ve got a good few years left, it felt like it was probably a good chance to freshen up my career and bring some of my experiences to help a young and emerging group,” Macrae told foxfooty.com.au.
“I think that’s probably the area where hopefully I can play and where I’ve played my best footy in the past.”
The clash kicks off from 11:00am AEDT. The match will be broadcast live and exclusive on Fox Footy (ch. 504) and streaming via Kayo Sports.
