In a club-produced documentary titled Thrive to Survive, viewers are given unprecedented access to the three-day Tigers camp with motivational group Testing Limits Together (TLT).
Coach Benji Marshall and his assistants leave no stone unturned during the first day of the camp, which is shown in the first episode of a gripping two-part series.
At the end of an exhausting first day, with the clock having ticked past 8:30pm, skipper Api Koroisau explains the ultimatum the team was given before finishing up for the night.
“There was an option between all of us doing 90 burpees or someone to do three laps of this course. We thought it was all impossible so I wasn’t expecting anyone to raise their hand,” Koroisau said.
Bula willingly put his hand up, which led to an eruption of cheers from his teammates who followed the fullback as he lugged a huge pipe along the course in the dark.
“As soon as he said, ‘I’m ready I want to do it’, well it still gives me goosebumps now thinking about it. I have so much respect for him,” hooker Tallyn Da Silva said.
Bula’s act not only garnered the respect of his teammates, but his coach too.
“One thing about Jahream is he doesn’t say alot, but his actions always do the talking,” Marshall said.
“I love that from him. Those are the sort of players we want on our team.”
What unfolds may just bring a tear to the eye of even the most hardened NRL fan and leave Tigers fans optimistic ahead of the season
