All-rounder Cameron Green has rediscovered his form with the bat ahead of the Ashes, hitting a commanding 94 from 172 balls during Western Australia’s Sheffield Shield match against Queensland at the WACA.
The 26-year-old, unbeaten on 49 overnight, fell agonisingly short of his 15th first-class century at the Perth venue on Thursday afternoon, dismissed LBW by Bulls seamer Michael Neser.

Facing a Queensland attack that also featured Australian representatives Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Swepson, Green struck eight boundaries and a six during his stylish knock, cashing in on a batter-friendly deck.
The previous day, he claimed 1-13 in a bruising eight-over spell that suggested he’s ready to serve as an all-rounder during the Ashes, a massive boost for the Australians.

Before this week, Green’s most recent first-class scores were 0, 41, 19, 24, 42, 46, 52, 26, 15, 3, 0 and 4, averaging 22.67 across that period, but he has allayed any lingering doubts about his form ahead of the blockbuster series against England.
However, there remains uncertainty over where Green will bat for the Ashes opener at Perth Stadium; either at No. 3, which creates room for two all-rounders in the starting XI, or at No. 6, which squeezes Tasmania’s Beau Webster out of the side.
Immediately after Green’s dismissal, Western Australia declared its first innings at 7-322, despite still trailing by 68 runs.
Green then opened the bowling, ending the day with figures of 0/40 from 11 overs as the hosts broke the game open to give themselves a shot at a come from behind victory on the final day.
Queensland were 8/187 at stumps, leading by 255 runs, after off spinner Corey Rocchiccioli (4/41) tore through their middle to lower order late in the day as the visitors lost 4/1 in a stunning collpase.
The tweaker was even on a hat-trick, taking his four wickets in just ten balls.
Matt Renshaw (51) and Jack Clayton (54) made half-centuries for Queensland, while Marnus Labuschagne was knocked over by seamer Brody Couch for 11.
