Brodie Grundy’s trade to the Swans could be one of the first deals struck in October.
Meanwhile, a delisted Power ruck is attracting ample rival interest — but a fringe Lion has turned down ample rival interest in him.

GRUNDY-SWANS DEAL COULD GO THROUGH QUICKLY
Sydney’s acquisition of Brodie Grundy will be one of the first deals struck during this year’s trade period, reports Footy Classified.
Grundy is poised to join the Swans during next month’s exchange period – 12 months after his sensational move from Collingwood to Melbourne, despite having five years left on his Magpies mega deal – after falling out of favour at the Demons’ selection table in recent months.
Speaking on Channel 9’s Footy Classified on Wednesday night, host Eddie McGuire reported Grundy hadn’t been part of a Demons 2024 player meeting earlier in the day.
“Melbourne had a future planning meeting with all the players and it was mutually agreed that Brodie Grundy, no need to turn up and Brodie was happy not to. That is what my information is,” McGuire told Footy Classified.
“No ranker, but just: ‘We‘re finishing and that’s done.’”

Sydney and Port Adelaide were initially seen as the two main contenders for Grundy’s services, but the Power last week pulled out of the race. The Herald Sun reported Sydney’s pitch to Grundy – which focused on lifestyle and opportunities outside the game – appealed more than Port’s football-orientated pitch.
McGuire also suggested the fact the Swans (Picks 11, 22, 30, 41 and 49) have more to work with at the trade table – compared to Port Adelaide (Picks 37, 43 and 70) appealed more to the Demons.
“My understanding is that Port Adelaide don‘t have the picks to entice a deal with Melbourne and that Brodie will end up at Sydney – who have got the picks – and I think Brodie wants to go to Sydney now,” he said.
McGuire added Grundy had already met with key Swans figures.
“I think Brodie Grundy will be one of the first deals done with the Sydney Swans to leave the Melbourne Football Club,” he said.
RIVAL CLUBS MONITORING RUCK
Delisted ruckman Brynn Teakle is being monitored by several clubs, reports AFL Media.
Teakle this week was one of four players delisted by Port Adelaide after one-and-half seasons on the list.
The 23-year-old played six AFL games for the Power, including four in 2023, but he was hindered by a mid-year foot injury.

AFL Media reported on Thursday morning the Kangaroos, Giants and Bulldogs have “all expressed interest” in Teakle, with the three clubs facing the possibility of losing rucks.
North Melbourne veteran Todd Goldstein could depart amid interest from Essendon, while Giant Matt Flynn has been strongly linked to West Coast and Bulldog Jordon Sweet has already requested a trade to the Power.
Teakle, 204cm, was taken by the Power in the 2022 mid-season draft.
LION TO STAY LOYAL
In-demand small forward Kai Lohmann is set to re-sign with Brisbane, despite an array of rival clubs circling him, reports 7 News Melbourne.
Lohmann has struggled to break into the strong Lions starting 22 since being drafted with Pick 20 in the 2021 draft.
Subsequently, multiple Victorian clubs – including Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs and Essendon – had been monitoring his situation in recent months. The Bulldogs targeted Lohmann last year during trade negotiations surrounding Josh Dunkley.

But 7 News Melbourne reporter Mitch Cleary on Wednesday night reported on X that Lohmann had “turned his back on strong rival interest” and was set to re-sign with Brisbane.
Drafted out of the GWV Rebels, the 185cm forward remains the last first-round pick from the 2021 draft who‘s yet to pen a contract extension beyond the initial two-year deal. But that appears likely to change soon.
Lohmann has played eight games in two seasons for Brisbane, with five of them as either the starting sub or the player subbed out mid-game.
