‘HEAVILY SCOUTED’: SUNS ‘MONITOR’ GUN PIES DUO
Gold Coast are reportedly keeping an eye on veteran Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott, as the out-of-contract 32-year-old continues to weigh up his future.
Elliott, who has been in red-hot form throughout 2025, is yet to accept a two-year deal on the table from the Magpies as they continue their premiership tilt.
Speaking on SEN, reporter Sam Edmund expanded on the contender’s preliminary interest in the 241-gamer.
“There is a chance Elliott’s career-best season could be his last at Collingwood. The Suns are holding some appeal for the (out-of-contract) forward; he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, so he could move north.
“He had a good look at Brisbane (in 2022) … his family is still there (and) he spent a lot of his childhood in Queensland, so there is no doubt that they hold some appeal for him. Collingwood are aware of this, the Suns are also aware of it.
“I think he’s got a school of thought that the warmer weather might extend his career as well. I’m not sure what the Gold Coast offer would be, because it hasn’t got to that.
“The Suns are monitoring it.”
Speaking on Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle, Jon Ralph revealed the Suns’ interest in fellow Pie Beau McCreery, who unlike Elliott, is in contract.
“Beau McCreery is being heavily scouted by rival clubs. He’s contracted until 2027, Collingwood will say he’s going nowhere (but) Gold Coast right now is a club that’s really being aggressive,” Ralph said.
“They’ve had an ask about Bobby Hill, they’re desperate for that small forward replacement for Izak Rankine … McCreery is aware of the interest. He’s not saying yes or no, he hasn’t ruled out that move.”
The 24-year-old inked a four-year deal at Collingwood back in July 2023, meaning any potential move north this year must be completed via a trade.

Amid the pursuit of Beau McCreery and Jamie Elliott by Gold Coast, key figures at the Magpies remain “cranky” with the club’s negotiating of their contracts.
North of 15 players are still yet to sign deals to keep them in the black and white beyond 2025, with just three rounds left of the home-and-away season.
Premiership ruckman Darcy Cameron is one of several reportedly displeased with Collingwood’s unwillingness to extend his current deal, while forward Brody Mihocek isn’t expected to accept the club’s current one-year offer on the table.
“It’s the talk of the industry; everyone out there is aware of the fact there are some cranky Pies,” Midweek Tackle’s Jon Ralph said on Tuesday night.
“There’s a lot of those Pies — like Scott Pendlebury and Jeremy Howe — who are absolutely happy to sign modest deals.”
Perhaps further fuelling their “disgruntled” nature, is the club’s seeming priority to secure rival utility Jack Silvagni out of Carlton this off-season.
Ralph wrote for the Herald Sun noting that Collingwood are yet to offer deals to Tom Mitchell, Mason Cox and Will Hoskin-Elliott who are among the number of veterans yet to put pen to paper.
