Tigers star Jarome Luai has had his say on the club’s Lachlan Galvin saga in the wake of the young gun being dropped by Benji Marshall and the experienced playmaker has been praised for being “unashamedly himself”.
But another post, from recent recruit Sunia Turuva which was intended for close friends before leaking, is even more cutting about Galvin’s looming exit.
Luai took to Instagram sharing an image that read “team first” after it emerged he and teammate Api Koroisau approached Marshall following the contract bombshell to air their concerns.

Speaking on NRL 360, journalist Andrew Webster applauded Luai’s strong stance.
“I love Jarome. In a game where so many are players are too scared to be themselves, he’s unashamedly himself,” Webster said.
According to Webster, Luai, and other members of the Tigers’ leadership group approached Marshall on Tuesday morning and said they didn’t want to play with Galvin.
“(The Instagram post is) just another way of (Luai) saying we’re not going to put up with Lachlan Galvin deciding not to play with us,” Webster added.

NRL 360 host Braith Anasta also weighed in, believing there was no subtlety about Luai’s social media post.
“He’s just pretty much said, ‘if you don’t want to be a part of this team, see you later, work your way back in,’” Anasta said.
Meanwhile Turuva posted a story for his close friends which went even further than Luai.
The post featured a shot of Galvin’s locker with the music underneath being former WWE wrestler Shane McMahon’s theme song, which is called ‘Here Comes The Money’.
It comes after Tigers prop Fonua Pole liked a post which said about Galvin: ““Unf—ingbelievable. We give you a shot at first grade and hand you the keys to the franchise with every tool possible around you to succeed cya mate.”
In an extraordinary development, Webster revealed Marshall, along with club CEO Shane Richardson, were going to name Galvin in the team, before the senior players stepped in.
“As of last night, Shane Richardson and Benji Marshall were of the opinion that they were going to pick him. And it was the senior players, that fronted Benji this morning, and said, ‘we don’t want to play with him,’” Webster said.
Remarkably, Marshall asked Galvin to address the Tigers’ playing group.
Galvin did, but Tigers players weren’t impressed with what they heard from Galvin.
“Apparently they had to call an end to it because they weren’t copping what was coming out of his mouth,” Webster said.

On Tuesday, Galvin was dumped to NSW Cup, and will be replaced by Luai at five-eighth, with Adam Doueihi named at halfback.
The development comes after the Tigers released a statement on Monday, announcing that Galvin would be leaving the club at the end of 2026, when his contract expires.
