The European Parliament worked hard all year to deliver on key issues for Europeans. MEPs adopted many measures to ensure the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU and support households through the green transition.
Parliament negotiators struck a provisional deal with the Council on rules that will provide the world’s first set of comprehensive rules on artificial intelligence and protect users while supporting the development of the industry.
MEPs are also working to reduce Europe’s dependence on imports in strategic sectors. The European Chips Act, adopted in July, seeks to boost the production of semiconductors in the EU that are essential building blocks for all types of digital products.
Use your vote in the European elections
Next year will mark the end of the current legislative term and the start of a new one. The European elections will take place from 6 to 9 June.
“With the European elections in June, 2024 will be a decisive year. Your vote matters. It will set the direction of our course and decide on the Europe you want to see,” said Parliament president Roberta Metsola.
